So Many Questions Are Always Left

Sat Aug 2, 2008, 11:06 PM
Hallo. I'm haeftling.
Um, well I kind of decided to have my own Q&A session, just because I feel like it.
So, here we gooo.

Q: Why 'haeftling'?
A: 'Haeftling' or 'Häftling' in German means 'inmate'. Yeah, I know, I basically just said that I call myself a prisoner. Well, I've always had a certain fascination with old prisons, and (while not trying to sound too dramatic), I do personally sort of feel like an inmate of ... my own confinement. Does that make sense? I generally feel sort of imprisoned by a lot of things. My room, my narrow thoughts, my body, my location, etc. So yes, a lot of things. Also, I just find the word 'Haeftling' to be .. aesthetically pleasing, and it has a nice tonality to it. Alexander Pope once said "The sound must seem an echo to the sense". And well, I find that the word 'Haeftling' sounds nice, it sounds familiar to me, just like my feeling of imprisonment, which is, at this point, familiar. It's not depressing or anything, it's just .. there. And, I have a strange crazed obsession with anything German; from Germany, to German people, food, culture, etc. So that's why my 'alias', of sorts, is in German.

Q: Why deviantART?
A: I've been intensely browsing the web since I was ... well young(er), and always came across pictures from this site. I had my own Neopets graphic website back in the day, and all of the other - cooler - webmasters all had deviantART accounts. So eventually I developed this idea that all the cool people on the internet had deviantART accounts. Plus I've always thought that so many of the art and picture pieces on here came from truly talented people. I, myself, am an artist, and, since getting back into making graphics (this time they're 99% Tokio Hotel-related, though), I decided to get my own account.

Q: So, what kind of art do you make?
A: Um ... everything. Ha. Let's see. I started taking art classes at the age of six, which lasted a few years, until I 'became too busy' (as in: I made up bullshit excuses). So my first form of art was painting, and while I don't paint very often, I can picture myself ever NOT painting. I'm not amazing, (probably because I gave up painting class!), but I feel amazing when I know that I can paint whatever I want. And, well, I'm not going to say that I'm a photographer (because most of the people who say that are just amateur posers with cameras), but before I lost my camera I really enjoyed photographing everything and everything. I believe life is portrayed in a better light from behind the lens of a camera. I also like writing stuff. If you can consider that art. Mostly just lovesick poems and that kind of jazz. I'm a musician as well. I hope to always be one. I've gone through the piano, violin, acoustic guitar, and finally settled with my electric Fender guitars about 4 years ago. And, I obviously am crazy about graphics. Once I get started on making one I just can't stop. And that's why I go to bed at 2am. Ha. I also really really hope to get into graffiti art. I just need to buy some spray paint and design a tag first.

Q: Why do you have such long answers?
A: Because I have way to much to say so I tend to ramble on with a million different points on one topic. And at least here I can pretend like someone is going to read this and will actually be interested in my selfish rambling monologue. Yay!

Q: What's up with the Tokio Hotel obsession?
A: Um... They're only kinda sorta freaking amazing. Are they the best band in the history of the world? No, let's get serious. I'm not going to say that they're gifted prodigies, but I really do love them. Because ... I think they have the perfect kind of songs. Not too bubble-gum pop and not too emo-hardcore. (sorry for the stupid labels, but it's the only way I can think to describe it). I also love the fact that they sing in German, because the German languages sounds absolutely delightful to my ear, so while I can only understand about a third of what they're saying on the German versions of their songs (I'm delayed in my attempts to sign up for German language courses), I find that they're just great to listen to. I appreciate Bill's lyrics too, because they touch many people close to the heart. I'm also not going to lie and say that I don't think he's the most gorgeous thing on the planet and I would absolutely die if I ever met him. Plus, I think they're just nice people with a great dream. And they're lucky to be living it out.

Q: So .. if you're learning German does that mean that you only speak English?
A: Pshhh, it's the twenty first century. Of course I don't only speak English. I also speak fluent French and Spanish, and I'm moving to Greece, so therefore I've been taking Greek lessons (and will most likely master the language by the time I go off to college). And then, like I said, I'm going to start taking German lessons, so I'm studying that too. I might tackle Portuguese when I'm done learning those last two. Oh, I can say that I also feel imprisoned by my lack of ability to speak many many many languages.

Q: Why so international?
A: I've lived in Haiti, Mautitius, France, Nicaragua, Canada, the USA, and I'm moving to Greece. That's why.

Q: Any thing else?
A: I have ALOT to say, so if you actually took the time to read this, feel free to open up any discussion with me. I'd love to ramble on some more.
